Music in Black

A friend pointed me to this video recently. I shows Mr Wintley Phipps talking about how most old negro spirituals were written using only the five black notes on the piano! He demonstrates this with a few easily recognized songs and then sings Amazing Grace in his interpretation of what it might have been at its origin.

This is pretty amazing. Well worth your time to watch and listen.
